About A/C ServiceMaster

Thirty-Seven Years of Finding the Actual Fault

Paul Diggs has been in heating and air since 1989. A/C ServiceMaster is an owner-operator business, which means the hands on your system are his — and he runs it out of North Augusta, South Carolina, covering Aiken County and the communities around it.

He is also an instructor. Paul trains other service technicians in the trade, which is a useful thing to know about the person working on your system: explaining a fault clearly is not something he does for your benefit on the day, it is what he does for a living.

  • Diagnosis before parts — pressures, airflow and electrical get read first
  • Repair before replace, and he will tell you when a repair has stopped making sense
  • Plain-language pricing — the number comes before the wrench
  • Cash and cards, financing available, and a 10% senior discount

You can't get more professional than this. Called first thing on a Saturday morning. He told me he could be there in a hour and a half and he showed up right on time. He was very knowledgeable and able to diagnose the problem quickly and took the time to explain how it worked. He even gave me some tips on some preventative maintenance while he was working. All work was completed quickly and at a great price.

Paul was at my house within an hour of my call. He got right to work identifying the issues, had the available repair parts and fixed on the spot. I have been looking for a honest AC company since moving here 9 years ago and I have finally found one! Will definitely use again when issues arise. Thanks Paul!

He was honest where others could have said that there was more to fixing my unit than there was. Some of the best customer service I've had I would highly recommend him to others, and use his services again. Thank you

I highly recommend this business. Paul is a local businessman and treated us extremely well. He was prompt, knowledgeable, very respectful and expertly professional. He was a pleasure to speak with and also gave us helpful tips to improve overall maintenance as to avoid future service calls. Thank you from Trophies Unlimited!

Great service, only service that answers the phone at 7:30 in the morning and can give an estimate. Great price too, thanks again!

Why the slogan is “we move heat”

Your Air Conditioner Does Not Make Cold Air

It moves heat. That is the entire job, it is where the name comes from, and once you know it most of what goes wrong stops being mysterious.

  1. 1
In summer, it moves heat out.

Refrigerant picks up heat from the air inside your house, carries it outside, and dumps it out of the outdoor unit. The cold is just what is left behind.

  2. 2
In winter, a heat pump runs it backwards.

The same cycle reverses. Even on a cold day there is heat in the outside air, and the system pulls it in. That is why a heat pump costs less to run than strip heat.

  3. 3
So a breakdown is one of three things.

The heat stopped moving because of refrigerant, because of airflow, or because of electrical. Working out which one before any parts get replaced is the whole job.

A Hands-On HVAC Training Lab in Aiken County Coming Soon

Not a lecture hall and not a slide deck. Real equipment on the bench, real faults put into it, and gauges in your hands until reading them is automatic.

  • Live systems you can charge, fault and troubleshoot — not diagrams of them
  • The fundamentals first: the refrigeration cycle, airflow, and electrical — in that order
  • Taught by somebody still doing the work, not somebody who left it twenty years ago
  • Much of the lab equipment comes straight off real service work in South Carolina

No dates, no tuition and no enrolment yet — the lab is being built. Call or email and your name goes on the list, and you will hear about it before it is announced anywhere else.

Frequently Asked Questions

Questions worth asking any HVAC company in Aiken County.

What areas do you cover?
North Augusta, Aiken, and the rest of Aiken County — Belvedere, Clearwater, Graniteville, Langley, Bath, Warrenville, Burnettown, Beech Island, Jackson and New Ellenton among them. If you are near the edge of that, call and ask — the answer is usually yes.
My system is not cooling. Anything to check before I call?
Three quick things. Check that the filter is not filthy, check that the breaker for the outdoor unit has not tripped, and check that the thermostat is calling for cool and its batteries are good. One thing not to do: if you see ice on the refrigerant lines or the indoor coil, switch the system off and leave it off. Running it iced up is how a bad afternoon turns into a compressor.
Do you work on heat pumps as well as gas furnaces?
Both. Heat pumps, gas furnaces, air handlers, package units and split systems. Heat pumps are the majority of what is installed around here, and their winter faults — defrost problems, systems locked on emergency heat, reversing-valve trouble — are routine work.
Is the free second opinion really free?
Yes. If you have a written quote from another company, or a receipt for work that has already been done, Paul will come out and look at the system at no charge and give you his honest read on whether the work is needed and whether the price is fair. There is no obligation and no charge whether you use him afterwards or not. Bring the quote or the receipt with you, and it applies within the service area.
Will you tell me if a repair is not worth doing?
Yes, with the reasoning. Age of the system, what the repair costs, what is likely to fail next, and what a replacement would run. You get the numbers and you make the call — there is no commission riding on the answer.
How can I pay, and is there financing?
Cash and credit cards are both fine, and financing is available on larger jobs such as a full system replacement. There is also a 10% senior discount. Ask when you call and the options get explained before any work is booked.
Do you take light commercial work?
Yes — small offices, retail spaces, shops and churches, including rooftop and package units. Larger industrial plants are outside what one technician should be promising to cover, so those get an honest referral instead.
Are you running HVAC training classes yet? Coming Soon
Not yet. A hands-on training lab is being built here in Aiken County, and the service side of the business is what funds it. There are no dates, no tuition and no enrolment at this stage — but call and say you are interested in training, and your name goes on the list to be told first.
